Where to Stay in Billund - Part 2 of 2

Last time we discussed why you want to visit the enchanting town of Billund in the middle of the Jutland peninsula of Denmark. Jutland is attached to the European continental landmass.  Now we discuss where you should stay.  The greatest thing about this small town for the unique accomodations we are about to discuss is that they are all within walking distance to Legoland Billund and The Lego House.

Legoland Hotel
The Legoland Hotel Billund is a beautiful rendition with highly decorated rooms.  Our favorite is the wizard room as seen below.  They have bunk beds and some rooms, the bunk beds have a partial wall separating the main bed.  There are some pieces of Lego in the room and a treasure chest.  Kids get a pamphlet with clues to solve in order to open the chest.  The chest contains an activity book and a small bagged Lego set.  There is a breakfast buffet in the morning as well set in a nice cafeteria with glass windows that go straight up and slant inwards to create a nice lighting effect.

If you choose this Hotel, pick the rooms in the Legoland building on the second floor.  Your window literally opens up over Legoland itself!  Where we stayed you can jump down from the window onto a metal awning to go into the Park. Of course we did not do that but it is possible!

There is a private entrance to Legoland from this hotel.  We stayed a night or two and different hotels here because we wanted to experience the uniqueness that each hotel had to offer.
Bonus Tip: Be sure to take part in the Lego competition every night.  We won two different large Lego Sets.  To the right side of the lobby around the corner there are two small raised pools of legos with shelves above.  Each night there is a competition for building the best lego creation and leaving it on the shelf.  Be sure to check your creation before you go sleep as we discovered someone broke one of our entries.  The sets won were the Mickey Mouse Steamboat and a Lego Technic Car.  Each set is worth over $90 at the time.

Castle Hotel
Castle Hotel Billund has long extended hallways and a mideval theme.  There is a large play area.  We tried the buffet here and it was good, service was friendly but expensive.  We had to pay for a pitcher of tap water!

This one is our favorite room at the Legoland Castle Billund Hotel.

Legoland Holiday Village
Perhaps the most unique place we stayed at is the Legoland Holiday Village.  Sprawled on a huge plot of cleared forest land, the Holiday Village has a variety of cabins with neat attractions included.  The entrance is on the bottom right of the Village and it sprawls out the west and north. The front has a check in center with a restaurant buffet.   Directly to the left are motel buildings with a standing shower stall.  Further out are rows of cabins.  There is a Ninjago building with a play structure on the left.  The left most corner are mini golf putting holes.  The right side has trailer parking spots.  Up the middle are secluded huts.  The back has two giant outdoor bouncers sprouting up fromt he ground, an obstacle course, a small pond, a goat feeding station, and a petting zoo.  The far left back corner are camp grounds.  The top middle in the very back are tipees that you can stay in.  You can rent tricycles and bikes to go around the Holiday Village.

Tepees in the back of the Holiday Village.  These are not heated so bring extra thick sleeping bags especially during the fall.

The front entrance with the front desk check-in building that also features a store, and a restaurant. A coin laundry is in a building just to the right.  Buy laundry machine, dryer, and detergent tokens from the front desk.

Lalandia
If you want a non-Lego theme nice indoor hotel, then check out Lalandia next door to the Legoland Holiday Village. Lalandia features an indoor themed village with an artificial sky and canal. Reminds us of the Venetian in Las Vegas and Hong Kong.

Lalandai has an extensive indoor water park with slides, a lazy river, wave pool, and beach as seen below.  One of the large water slide goes outside and that has a featured break in the middle where you can get off and go back inside from there or continue to slide all the way down which also brings you back inside.

Remember all hotels here are within walking distance of Legoland Billund.  However, you can also choose to use the town bus service or take a taxi.
