Nellie's Glen - A Trip To The Outback in Australia
Nellie's Glen is a bit of an enchanted secluded glen in the middle of a lush forest filled with wildlife only found in Australia.
Location:
Nestled in the middle of Kangaroo River approximately 152 km or 90 miles south of Sydney, you can camp at Nellie's Glen Campgrounds to view all there is to see around here.
As you get to the trail head, there will be some up and down areas. The uphill climbs can be quite steep so it might be a good idea to bring hiking sticks especially if you are carrying a heavy backpack with a water pack. Look at a sample climb below.

If you can swing it, take an aerial ride or hike the mountains behind Nellie's Glen. You can see down the ravine in this picture.
Here at the edge of the hills you can see Nellie's Glen in the distance.
Best Times To Visit:
April to June is Autumn here and it is probably the best time to visit. Remember Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere, and pretty far south so the seasons are completely reversed. This time period will allow you to se e the maly lyrebird displaying its full self to attract females during mating season. This is the best volume for the waterfalls.
Spring time is our fall so that is between late September to November. This time has a lot of blooming flowers but lower water levels.
The Winter Months in Australia is late June to early September. It is cooler at around 75 degrees F so it is a nicer walk but still humid.
The Summer Months are probably the harsest time to visit as it is hot and humid. Plus the water flows are lower.
Summary:
Go to Nellie's Glen to see paradise. Enjoy the rest of the national park for all its wonder. Then keep driving south to discover Melbourne, a secluded glen of a major city itself since it is one of the most remote and southern metropolitan areas in the world.
